Dorothy Eidenire Obituary

Dorothy Jane Shiffler Eidenire, born on May 22, 1941, at Sewickley Valley Hospital in Sewickley, PA, entered this world as a beacon of light and joy to her parents, Harvey Ross Shiffler and Edis Jean McCann Shiffler. She departed from this life and entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ peacefully on February 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will forever be cherished.

Dorothy's journey began with a series of heartwarming anecdotes that painted a vivid picture of her spirited personality. From her earliest days, she exhibited a love for music, inspired by her father's thoughtful gift of an opera piano. Under the tutelage of her music teacher, she flourished as a pianist, captivating audiences with her talent and dedication.

Growing up in Coraopolis, PA, Dorothy's childhood was filled with warmth and laughter with older brothers Alvin and Ross. She embarked on her educational journey at Lincoln School Kindergarten, where her passion for learning was ignited. Dorothy approached life with resilience and grace, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Dorothy's unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life. Active in church activities from a young age, she found solace and strength in her faith community. Her involvement in organizations like Rainbow Girls and her dedication as a church pianist and organist spoke to her deep-rooted commitment to serving others and spreading kindness wherever she went.

In 1962, Dorothy married Charles William "Bill" Eidenire, with whom she shared over six decades of love, laughter, and Ministry. Their union was a testament to love, faith, and partnership, as they navigated life's ups and downs together with unwavering devotion. Together, they served faithfully in Ministry in New Castle, PA, Chicago Il., New Orleans, La, Jacksonville Fl. and the Dougherty, Sumter, Chrisp and Lee County Ga. areas. Together, they built a loving family and embraced each new addition with open arms.

As a mother, Dorothy poured her heart and soul into raising her three children: William Sheldon "Bill" Eidenire (Jennifer), Charles Eric Eidenire (Deedy), and Lee Arthur Eidenire (Ivy, deceased). Her love knew no bounds, and her children and their spouses were her greatest joy and source of pride as were her 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was also a second “Mom” to many.

Dorothy's professional endeavors mirrored her compassionate nature. A dedicated nurse who graduated from Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Pennsylvania, she touched the lives of countless patients with her gentle bedside manner and unwavering commitment to care. She worked at Pheobe Putney Hospital for 25 years. Her creative talents extended beyond the realm of healthcare, as she found joy in crafting beautiful works of art through crochet, knitting, and ceramics.

Dorothy Jane Shiffler Eidenire may have left this world, but she is walking the streets of gold alongside her Savior and her legacy of faith and love will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her grace. May she rest in peace, knowing that during her journey among us she made the world a brighter place simply by being in it.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on February 24, 2024, with a visitation at 3 pm, followed by a service at 4pm where her legacy will be honored and cherished by all who knew her.
