HAROLD EARL HOLLOWAY
Dr. Harold Earl Holloway, age 76, died on Wednesday June 27, 2012 at The Medical Center in Columbus. A native of Schley County, Dr. Holloway was born August 29, 1935, the son of the late Earl Lynwood Holloway and Fannie Mae Fletcher Kiesewetter. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Ellaville City Cemetery. Dr. Bob Whitmire of Monticello and Dr. Mike Flowers of Americus will officiate.
Dr. Holloway received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a family physician and practiced for forty-two years, practicing the last six years in Ellaville. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus where he was an active member of the Charlie Gibbs Sunday School Class, a senior member of the Kiwanis Club, past president and member of the Georgia Southwestern Alumni Association, a recipient of the LeeWynn Finklea Alumni Award, a member of the Georgia Southwestern Foundation Board of Trustees, a member of the local committee of The Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Home, an avid supporter of Georgia Southwestern State University, South Georgia Technical School and the Schley County School System. Dr. Holloway was the team physician for the Schley County Football Team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean conflict.
He was also a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Karen Dillard Holloway of Americus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn Lynn Land and Byron of Bishop and Tina Michele Reddick and Ashley of Marietta; one son and daughter-in-law, Jason Earl Holloway and Lesley of Ellaville; one sister and brother-in-law, Erma Devore and Warren of Auburn, California; one brother and sister-in-law, Gregory Kiesewetter and Nancy of Yucaipa, California; six grandchildren, Caleb Land, Carly Land, Molly Holloway, Cooper Harold Holloway, Sydney Reddick and Parker Reddick.
Serving as Pallbearers are James Bullard of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Mickey Holloway of Ellaville, Mike Fletcher, Garland Mears, Hoke Smith, Les Smith and Julian Webb of Americus. Honorary Pallbearers are Al Shanefelter of Silver Spring, Maryland, Jack Bligh of Manlius, New York, Ronn Connerley of San Francisco, California, Dr. Richard Chase of Montezuma, Dr. Wallace Mays, John Argo, Ed Pope, Wally Summers, Carlus Gay, and H.P. Ritch of Americus.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Georgia Sheriffs Youth Home, P. O.
